Bryan's Tips and Tricks

Enable the Suck Dock Effect (Mac OS X 10.5.3 Leopard)

There's a hidden Window Minimize Dock Effect in OS X. By default you only have two options for effects when minimizing Windows in OS X. Here's how to enable a Third one, called "Suck".

So Here's How:

Open Terminal (Located in your Applications Folder under Utilities.)

Type in defaults write com.apple.dock mineffect -string suck then press enter.

Next type in killall Dock then press enter. (Make sure you use a capital "D".)

Screen of Terminal Commands to Enable Suck Dock.

You can now Quit from Terminal like you would any other application.

Now try minimizing a window. You'll see the "Suck" effect.

If you want to see the effect in Slow Motion, Hold down "Shift" before you click on the minimize button.

If you don't like it, choose a different Effect in System Preferences (Dock).
